Further Investigations

  • Make a temperature map or thermal map of your classroom. A thermal map shows the range of temperatures in an area. Draw a map of your classroom and use the temperature sensor to determine temperatures on your map. Try to find the warmest place and the coldest place in the room. Refer to Technical Hints to measure a single temperature.


  • You are a luxury car designer, whose job is to make the passenger comfortable. Your role is to design the heating and air-conditioning system for the car. Where would you place the vents in the car to make the car the most comfortable? Using the drawing tool make a drawing of the car, showing where the vents would be located, and then explain your design. Refer to Technical Hints to use the drawing tool.


  • What effect does height have on the temperature? Using a temperature sensor, measure temperature at various heights in your classroom and report results to your class.
