Technical Hint - Connecting the Microphone

Most laptops and Macs have a built-in microphone. If there is no built-in microphone, you need to connect an external microphone. You can use an inexpensive lapel microphone with a microphone jack, or a more expensive one with a USB connection. Directions for attaching either type of microphone are shown below.

To connect a USB microphone, plug the USB connector into the USB port on your computer.

To connect a microphone jack microphone, connect the jack to the microphone port on your computer. The microphone port is usually colored pink.
